Ramadan-ing and other little updates

Assalamu Alaikim

I know I haven't been posting for a while. not too much has been happening (other than what I will talk about a little bit later...) I've been making the most of this holy month, although we can all be doing more.

Mashallah the day has been pretty much centered around Ramadan and the opportunities it brings. Waking up at 4am for Suhoor, praying Fajr and then staying up and reading the Qur'an till the sun has risen. Then if I'm too tired I'll sleep for a few more hours, and if not - its time to study (lets call it an attempt at studying - yes it's really hard. But Alhamdulillah). After studying for as long as I can concentrate, its time for Zuhr, followed by some rest. Then Asr, and then either I will cook iftar, or if mum wants to cook (which she's been so kind to do quite a bit for us girls since she is excused from fasting due to her diabetes) then I will sit down and read the Qur'an till Maghrib/iftar. After we have iftar its off to the mosque for Taraweeh prayers, then a quick chat with the family over snacks/more food, and then back to study or ready Qur'an till I'm tired enough to sleep. And not to mention lots of du'a

Alhamdulillah for giving us another chance to experience this blessed month for another year. It's such an amazing experience, especially when you take full advantage of what it brings. I kinda feel sorry for those who don't get to experience it. It is such a loss on their part.

On another note - I've decided to suspend my gym membership while I'm fasting. It's really hard and besides I don't really get the chance to attend. I'd much rather be at the mosque. This might be my last Ramadan, we never know if we will make it to the next one.

AND... here comes the exciting bit - we are so much closer to setting the date for the wedding. Actually its almost done, we just have to formally book a hall and talk to the imam. We've been looking at apartments and getting applications, and we looked around at venues, and I think I found one that I really want. So Inshallah it will all come together. I think we also have an almost-final guest list too, and the dinner menu, and the decoration-making etc is on the way. Oh and another thing that on the way is the dress :) I received a notice that it's been shipped today. Inshallah it will come soon and look great :) There is still a lot more to do but I'm happy to say that its coming along quite well. Mashallah

The ring :))

Yep, we bought the ring :))) well actually we bought two rings :))) yep, two rings :))))

They are so beautiful.

We were going to BigW to buy a bandage for my wrist and a thermos flask for The fiance... But we stumbled upon a jewelery store and as usual we had to stop and have a little quarrel comparing rings. I just wanted a little wedding ring with diamonds and he wanted a big one with a big rock. He just didnt understand that in my culture, u need a WEDDING ring and that no matter how big and fancy a ring was, if it wasnt a wedding ring - its not a wedding ring. And in the middle of our quarrel we found a set, it had a wedding ring similar to what I was after and a nice engagement ring which was all that he wanted. And yes, it was a little too big for my liking, but once I tried it, I really liked it. Only problem was, it was 9 carat gold, and I really don't like the dullness of nine carat gold. And just as I was saying this, (I was going to settle for it anyway) the sales lady pulled out this beautiful engagement ring that was very similar to that one but in 18 ct gold, AND (wait for it) MY WEDDING RING to go with it. Yes, that ring that I fell in love with all those months ago.

It doesn't need to be said, but I was in love. So we got these two gorgeous rings for the price I was prepared to pay for one of them. The engagement ring was highly discounted (70% off) and she gave me the ring I wanted for half price also. So yaaaay!!! I'm so happy.

Alhamdulillah.

And I love Mhd just that little bit more now. I cant wait for the wedding. Inshallah we won't have to wait too long.

But now that the fiance went home, and everyone else went to the park, its time to do a little spring cleaning (in Autumn). I am planning to clean and rearrange my room today so I can study in peace tomorrow Inshallah.

Oh oh....

I have some bad news for you.. Actually it really good news in that it's a great thing to be happening, but bad news for me cos the timing is all wrong.

I just found out my grandma, the most beautiful person in my life, has booked her plane ticket to go to Bosnia in early May.. like I said - its great news for everyone involved, including my grandma and my family overseas.. they will be able to see each other after so many years and spend some time together.

The bad news is that unless we make a big dash and plan this thing within the month, my beloved grandma, my queen and my source of inspiration, won't be at my wedding. She's going for something like six months. It brings a tear to my eye just thinking about it. I can't have a wedding without my grandma. She means too much to me. But don't  be surprised if we just bring everyone down to Sydney and have our wedding there, at least the Nikkah. I have always dreamed of having my wedding in the Botanical Gardens in Auburn ever since I was a little girl playing there.

On the other hand I am really happy that she has the opportunity to go to Europe again. She has a son there, as well as brothers and sisters who she hasn't seen for years, not to mention other cousins and relatives. It would be really good for everyone over there. But I will miss her. I already do.. She's been in Sydney staying with my auntie for a month or so.. I really need to call her and have a talk with her.. I haven't heard her voice in weeks. Inshallah I will do that tomorrow..


But for now, its time for me to go to sleep. It's getting pretty late and I think those pain killers are finally starting to kick in...

Looking for the Ring

I think its time to buy "the ring". We've been looking for quite a while.. I found a few that I liked, but by the time I get back home, call the fiancé,  and get back out to the shop again - it's either sold or the sale's over and its well and truly over the budget. And I'm really picky when it comes to jewellery so that doesn't make it any easier. I've had my eye on a couple of rings. We went to the shops yesterday to pick one out and at least put it on layby but unfortunately we found out that 3 of those are sold out. And even though I was given the option of ordering them in, the cost was blown up way out of what we are prepared to pay. So now there is only one. It's a little bit pricey but hey, you only get married once, Inshallah.

I think this is the one, but I would love to have it engraved on the inside

And I wish I could have this one to go along with it.. so sparkly... a girl can dream

So I think we will get that one. It is so beautiful. To be honest its the one I preferred all along but its also the most expensive. Inshallah we will be able to get it on the weekend.
